Darkness Rising
03:11
|
|||
There's a darkness rising... everywhere I look.
Didn't Orwell warn us... in his book?
Things are growing darker... every day.
Faceless drones ... work to keep us down.
Day after day... getting kicked around.
But it really doesn't have to be this way.
--Can I learn to fly, from the mud and the disaster
--Things are falling apart faster and faster
--Somewhere, this time, my fate to be the master
--Got to teach myself to fly!
Stacking the deck... with the stroke of a pen
Soon as you learn the rules... they'll change 'em again
Can't get ahead, even when you do your best
There's a jack boot stomping... on a human face.
Not just here... the whole human race.
And some animals are more equal than the rest.
Bridge:
Going to learn to soar above the atmosphere
Sure would great if you'd join me here,
We'll have to teach ourselves to fly...
Rewrite the language... rewrite the past,
Know your place. Stay in your caste.
Distract the proles with another useless war.
When there's no way out... no way to win
Got to throw it out.... start all over again
'cause it's too late now to fix things anymore,
--Going to learn to fly, from the mud and disaster
--Things are falling apart faster and faster
--Somewhere this time my fate to be master
--Going to teach myself, going to teach myself...
--Going to learn to fly, from the mud and disaster
--It's all falling down faster and faster
--Somewhere this time my fate to be master
--Going to teach myself to fly
Teach myself to fly.

Saigon Time in America
03:19
|
|||
--It's Saigon Time in America
--The Red, the White, the Blue
--Saigon Time in America...
--How'd that, work out, for you?
You can win every last battle, and still can lose a war.
With a disillusioned people, asking "What, was this all for?"
Hearts and minds and slogans, is not how too keep score.
And it's Saigon Time in America; we've seen this all before.
--It's Saigon Time in America
--The Red, the White, the Blue
--Saigon Time in America...
--And nothing, here, is new.
For you cannot build a nation, from lines drawn in the sand
Nor unite a fractured people, by fiat or command.
You cannot win a convert, whom you just don't understand.
And it's Saigon Time in America, just a different foreign land
--It's Saigon Time in America
--The Red, the White, the Blue
--Saigon Time in America...
-- And another foreign coup.
So history's repeating, 'twas easy to foresee,
With the Copter blades a-whirling, as the embassy folk flee.
Promises stand shattered, laid bare for all to see!
And it's Saigon time in America, and a million refugees.
It's Saigon time in America, from Sea to Shining Sea.
Saigon time in America... and some million refugees...

Mriya Farewell
03:00
|
|||
Chorus:
--Mriya Farewell,
--The spirit of a Dream
--Mriya Farewell
--An aviation Queen
--Mriya Farewell.
Born amidst the cold war, reaching for the stars
Transport for a space-plane that never got that far.
And History has not been kind to Buran as you know,
But you survived and prospered ever so.
--Chorus
One of a kind, no other quite like you,
Hauling special cargo, that no one else could do,
Reborn like a Phoenix from the ashes of empire,
Symbol of a New Dawn, soaring higher
--Chorus
And now your days are ended, by a madman seeking war.
Of hubris and vainglory, the whole world would ignore.
Your people are besieged, fighting in the streets.
Ignore history... you find that it repeats.
--Chorus

June the twenty fourth, nineteen forty eight
When forces of darkness, tried to bar the gate
They cut the roads and railways, of a people who were free,
But we refused to bow to tyranny.
--So we built a bridge though the sky.
--Yes we built a bridge through the sky
--With tyranny we won't comply.
--When you can't cross the land then you fly.
So Berlin was an island in a sea of misery
The air force said don't worry; we'll make delivery.
They may have tanks and armies, but let them curse and swear,
For we are still the masters of the air.
A quarter million sorties, brought in fuel and food,
Symbol of perseverance, and Western Fortitude
Ninety-Two million miles, were flown in that campaign
Gail Halverson dropped candy from his plane.
--So they built a bridge though the sky.
--Yes they built a bridge through the sky
--With tyranny we'll not comply.
--When you can't cross the land then you fly.
Sixteen months of airlift, till they finally backed down,
Though in another decade, a wall straight through the town.
And yet that wall is dust, just ashes of empire,
While that heroic airlift still inspires.
Now wherever there is crises, and human need is great,
Some natural disaster in need of aid and freight,
And road and rail is shattered, destruction everywhere,
We'll build another bridge straight through the air.
--So we'll build a bridge though the sky.
--Yes, build a bridge through the sky
--On aviation we can rely.
--When you can't cross the land then you fly.

Ghosts of Winter Past
04:16
|
|||
The battlefield is silent, the snow it falls at last.
Images from yesterday? Or from the distant past?
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--Invader's blood, waters the terrain.
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--The Ghosts of Finland stalk the land again,
The tanks are rusting quietly, artillery as well.
They've said for generations, war is always hell.
Defenders get a voice, in spoiling your plans.
And history has lessons, for invaders of this land.
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--Invader's blood watering the plain
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--The Ghosts of Finland stalk the land again,
To spring, the land's returning, the mud is growing deep.
And specters of the last great war, are rising from their sleep.
And Finland lost the Winter War, or so Russia insists,
But I've checked very carefully, and Finland still Exists!
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--Invader's blood fertilize the grain
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--The Ghosts of Finland stalk the land again,
So even if you win the war, tell me what you've bought.
Invading peaceful neighbors, is it worth the price you fought?
Hubris and vainglory, for which your army bled,
Enough land, just, to burry all your dead?
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--Rust and blood's, all that remains.
--Slava Ukraine, Glory Ukraine,
--The ghosts of Finland stalk the land again,
The lesson has to be re-taught again.

Sword & Shield
03:16
|
|||
--I cannot cast aside this sword this shield
--Down by the waterside...
--Down by the glen.
--Cannot plant orchards, nor plow my fields
--Rest by the waterside...
--Or rest again.
Duty and family
Ancient fading history
Darkness rises like the tide again
Someone has to take the field,
Live or die, but dare not yield,
Flesh and blood and sword and shield and men
--I cannot cast aside this sword this shield
--Down by the waterside...
--Down by the glen.
With your shield or on it.
Someone has to don it
Every generation fights again.
The ancient old aggression
and the growing state oppression
placing jesses and fetters on free men
--I cannot cast aside this sword this shield
--Down by the waterside...
--Down by the glen.
Once more into the fight
standing against the night
The Sword calling -"take me down again"
Duty stark and hallowed,
While the fields are lying fallowed.
Separating wolves from lambs and men
--I cannot cast aside this sword this shield
--Down by the waterside...
--Down by the glen.
--Cannot plant orchards, nor plow my fields
--Rest by the waterside...
--Or rest again.
